Beyond the Comeback Story

My life has taken many turns.
There were years when everything worked, and others when nothing did.
At 24, I was recruited into World Marketing Alliance, now World Financial Group. Before that, I spent several years selling insurance and learning the fundamentals of finance. I moved quickly. In my first year, I became a top producer and earned $300,000.

Over the next few years,
I built a team of more than 8,000 people and ranked among the top ten producers in a company of over 110,000. Within three years, I was earning more than $1 million annually.
The company was flying me around to teach others how to execute at a higher level.
During that time, the company’s founder, Hubert Humphrey, took me under his wing. He became my mentor and reshaped how I thought about business, economics, money, and leverage. More importantly, he helped me understand how to recognize and apply my own strengths.
My potential was being unleashed.
He didn’t just recognize it.
He knew how to deploy it.
He encouraged me to leave and build something of my own. For that, I give him full credit. That’s what real mentorship looks like. It’s not about keeping people close. It’s about preparing them to outgrow you.

As my career progressed,
I became involved in a hotel real estate development project in the Caribbean. Over five years, I raised $180 million to fund hotel construction. As the project moved forward, financial inconsistencies began to surface. The developer became unreliable, and I grew concerned that funds were being misused.

I filed a lawsuit to appoint a receiver to oversee the finances. The case I filed was dismissed and referred to federal authorities. That referral led to my indictment on mail fraud charges, despite the fact that I felt I did nothing wrong.
The case took my business, my finances, my marriage, and my peace. After eight years of legal battles and a proposed sentence of twenty-eight years, I made the difficult decision to accept a plea agreement — not because I believed I was guilty of the core charges, but because the cost of continuing had become too high.

That experience reshaped me.
During that difficult time,
I focused on what I could control.
While fighting my legal case, I became frustrated with the false narratives that appeared online. Instead of ignoring it, I decided to fix the problem. I founded a new company called Search Control to help influence and manage how brands and individuals appear in search results.
I also developed a technology to measure online sentiment. That technology became I-Score, a patented system designed to evaluate real research sentiment across the web from multiple sources. Today, Search Control is a multi-million-dollar company headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona
Inside prison, I coached, mentored, and worked with men from every background. I built trust, helped resolve conflict, and spent countless hours listening and challenging people to think differently about their lives.
It sharpened my ability to see potential under stress. It reinforced what I had learned long before — people don’t rise because conditions are ideal. They rise when someone sees what they’re capable of and holds them to it.
The same skills I used to build teams and businesses applied inside prison: listening, clarity, patience, and the ability to recognize potential in others before they do.
After my release,
I returned to work with focus and determination. A calmness now permeates my spirit, I’m clear, fearless, and at peace. Through Catledge Consulting Group, I partner with founders, entrepreneurs and leadership teams across several industries, for example: Brad Lea and his companies as well as the team behind Financial Scoring, I help position organizations already at the top of their respective industries.

During that process,
My work now spans strategic advisory, mentorship, and performance coaching for people ready to operate at their highest level.
As I continue rebuilding, I think less about what I lost and more about how to use my experience, perspective, and hard-earned lessons, to help others reach more than they thought possible.
Today, I’ve created peace and a life I intentionally designed. Now I’m helping others do the same.
My Values - The Foundation of Their Work
Authenticity
I show up as who I am. I don’t perform, posture, or soften the truth to be liked. Alignment matters more to me than approval.
Attention to Detail
Outcomes are decided in the margins. I pay attention to what others overlook because precision protects people and capital.
Accountability
I take responsibility for outcomes, not just intent. Leadership means owning the result, especially when it’s uncomfortable.
Hard Work
Progress is earned. I don’t shortcut effort or outsource discipline. Real development requires consistent work, even when no one is watching.
Continuous Development
I believe people are never finished. Real growth comes from consistent work, honest feedback, and a willingness to refine how you think, decide, and lead over time.
If you’re ready to stop sitting on potential and act on it, let’s talk.
